Drink Water For Weight Loss
If you’re looking to save on calories, then there is no better way to do it than by drinking water. All beverages of any other form have some kind of calories to them, except water! Plus, water has so so so many other benefits. It flushes out toxins in the body, helping aid in increasing digestive motility, which helps with weight loss. Start each day with a tall glass of water to kick-start your metabolism. ‘One study showed that drinking a half liter (17 oz) of water about a half an hour before meals helped dieters eat fewer calories and lose 44% more weight.’
Drink Green Tea To Shed Weight
Looking to boost your metabolism and shed those extra pounds? Replace that morning and/or afternoon cup of coffee with green tea instead. Green tea contains caffeine and many different types of antioxidants, with the most important one being EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), a type of catechin. This is the substance that boosts the metabolism! Drink up and enjoy!
Brush Your Teeth After Dinner To Avoid Eating
After dinner, do you find yourself snacking a few hours later? Or maybe binging on potato chips, chocolate or ice cream while watching your favorite sitcom? When you finish eating dinner, brush your teeth! This way you can avoid all those late night snack binge-fests, save calories and lose that weight!
Just Eat Real Food
My FAVORITE phrase of all time is ‘JUST EAT REAL FOOD.’ It sounds so simple, yet it’s harder than you think. Many of us (ourselves included initially) are so acustomed to grabbing things at the grocery store that come in a box, bag or can! You don’t have to cut out everything altogether, make a slow transition to eating all fresh fruits, veggies and protein. Try just doing it for breakfast for a week, then switch to breakfast and lunch the week after and finally, on the third week, try eating all three meals and snacks that are comprised of fresh, real food! Real food is easier to digest than all that processed mumbo jumbo. You’re body will surely thank you later by shedding pounds to get to a healthy, stable weight!
Buy Smaller Plates & Bowls For Proper Portions
Do you ever pour a bowl of salad, soup, or any other type of food and fill the ENTIRE bowl? I never thought of this one initially, but I used to do it all the time! Invest in SMALLER bowls or just be conscious to fill only HALF your bowl with food instead of the entire thing! This will cut calories and ultimately help lose weight.
Lift Weights 3 Times Per Week To Burn Fat
As a female, I was initially terrified to lift weights because I thought I would get ‘bulky’ like a man, so I just always did cardio. The fact of the matter is, while cardio is absolutely necessary, the BEST KEPT SECRET of burning fat is to lift weights 2-3 times weekly! Why? “When Penn State researchers put dieters into three groups—no exercise, aerobic exercise only, or aerobic exercise and weight training—they all lost around 21 pounds, but the lifters shed six more pounds of fat than those who didn’t pump iron.”
If you’re new to weightlifting, I HIGHLY suggest not starting by yourself. This usually leads to improper weightlifting form and injuries. Head to the gym with a an experienced friend, or better yet, hire a personal trainer for a month+ to really show you how to navigate the gym. This way you’ll lift weights with confidence, prevent injury, and maximize your weight loss properly.
Eat Spicy Foods To Shed Pounds
Chili powder contains an active ingredient called capsaicin, which has been linked to boosting energy and helping you eat slower. “Capsaicin also stimulates brown fat, a type of fat that generates heat by helping you burn calories, which is why it’s being explored as a tool for weight loss, healthy metabolism and more.11“ So, spice up your life and trim down your waistline!
Follow The Half-Plate Rule For Weight Loss
This one is simple and easy: instead of piling your plate with potatoes, rice and meat, try the half plate rule! Fill half your plate with veggies or fruit for each meal, which will help reduce your caloric intake, increase your vitamin consumption, and ultimately help you lose weight! No calorie counting or measuring required! Get creative with your veggies by checking out Pinterest, which offers recipes like cauliflower rice and zucchini pasta! When eating out, ask for an extra side of veggies and skip the carb!
Don’t Keep Treats In The House
The best advice I ever received from a fellow fitness friend was to keep all the treats OUT of the house! If they are there, you will find them and you will eat them! Keep your fridge stocked with fruits and veggies and, when you’re hungry, snack on those instead! Pinterest offers so many amazing, healthy snack ideas like fried bananas with a pinch of cinnamon! Healthy and satisfying!
Eat 6 Meals A Day
Research shows that eating 6 small meals a day is much better than 3 large meals. Meal prepping on Sunday is the BEST way to stick to a healthy eating regimen. Pack snacks like nuts, fruit, veggies or seeds to eat between meals. Don’t eat empty carbs like potatoes, rice, chips, etc.
